From our founding in 1926 (then known as Whitney Company), Whit-Co Stamps and Engraving has seen stamp production technology advance from the hot-metal typesetting of yesteryear to today's digital imaging. In 1926, most stamps were traditional wood handle stamps. Self-inkers in 1926 were clunky metal-frame contraptions. With the advent of durable plastics, reliable plastic self-inkers developed in the 1970's and have steadily improved in quality and durability since that time.
